The Metamorphosis

On the morning of December 26 2008 at about 5am. I awoke praising the lord that I was able to see 30 years of life this was a birthday to remember the big T H R E E Z E R O. I reflected on my existence and my purpose. Its funny how this world can mold you into what it wants, if you don’t have a focal point. For me coming out of a situation where I misconceived my S.S. Minnow for the Love boat. My 3 hour tour was syndicated for the latter of a 7 year marriage. Literally I was the captain of the Titanic, I went down with the ship (my house) till the bitter end. The 1st law of nature is self preservation. Not one to be held down or discouraged, I found my Strength in my Lord and saviour Jesus Christ. I kicked my feet found my rhythm with my arms and swam to safety.

Upon my arrival to shore thinking about how life’s a beach :0) … I always heard that suffering makes you a better artist, I never put to much thought to it. But I’m a firm believer that hindsight is 20/20. I can see how negativity has taken its toll on me, however I also see how it has opened my eyes to a different side of life. Appreciation of the little things has become a badge of honor for me. I often quote Frederick Douglass: without struggle there can be no progress. This morning I saw all things as a form of progress God is good all the time. so this was the morning I was lead to my true voice, my true vision.No longer did I need to paint under the name of my art studio. Today I would take the step from Fresh Prince to Will Smith. A movement of growth and maturity. I am Demar Douglas the artist formally known as Blaqwata………………..
